Unimpressed. Ambiance isn't everything to me, so I quickly got over the run-down appearance and sparse decor. However, no TP in the bathroom was annoying. You get your food very fast, but the menu is not very descriptive about what you get. Also, no tacos al pastor on the menu. Serious disappointment! If you're a "Taco Shop" shouldn't you have tacos al pastor?!? I ordered the tacos carne asada, which come in soft corn tortillas. I would have liked to know that they were going to put the aguacate crema on it, because it wasn't very good and I would have requested it without. Pretty flavorless overall, and the meat was pretty fatty. I just really did not like it at all. I like hole in the wall places like this, but this did not live up to my standards at all. Maybe I went on an off day or I didn't order the right thing? I'd be willing to give it another chance, but as of right now I would not recommend.

This place SUCKS!!! First I ordered a burrito. Then asked what was in it. Meat, pico de gallo & guacamole. That's it. No beans, no rice, no cheese. How can they even call it a burrito with no beans?! The nachos supreme might have been ok...if the cheese was melted. Taco..so so. I could've made a better one at home or bought a great one from a taco truck. The tortilla was stale. And they tried to mask it buy warming it on the burner. But when the tortilla falls apart in flakes no amount of warming or steaming will hide the fact that it is stale. My roommate ordered a "California" burrito. Now I'm from Cali & take great pride in the wonderful Mexican food from my home state. What the hell makes this a California burrito?! Potatoes?! Really!?!! Maybe they should rename that Idaho burrito because no self-respecting Californian would even consider eating that crap. This was a second chance try for that place & it was my last. Never again will I waste my money here. I would recommend Taco Bell over this joint. No Bueno!!!!

Food was tasty... but I'd prefer a taco truck that has a more authentic variety.

Best carne asada burrito I've ever had! Can't wait to go back!

We ate here while visiting before we moved to Colorado and my son fell in love! While we started with the carnitas tacos, we've begun to steadily work our way through the menu. While the ambiance is a bit shabby (can you say re-purposed Burger King?) the employees are friendly, the food is fresh and the price is good. Authentic pico de gallo and salsa verde go so well with the fillings, it will make you crave more. Well worth a trip down the Ute Pass for us! Don't Miss: The Carnitas Tacos, Churros and Horchata.

It's a Thursday night, it's dark, maybe even a light rain coming down, and you feel like Lance Armstrong, no not seven time Tour de France winner Lance, but that same guy struggling to push up the Alps, drawn, chin hanging low feeling like he's been kicked in the breadbasket by Alberto Contador on L'Alpe D'Huez. and the last thing you want to do when you get home is to cook. So you bang a left off of I-25, coast down Fillmore and there it is on the left...looking slightly forlorn but never empty, Monica's. Step inside and there it is-tacos, burritos any way you like, and...horchata! Ok, so Monica's is a guilty pleasure, and I know that I'll need to log a couple extra miles in the morning, but for quick take-out at a reasonable price-may even be a steal-pull into that parking lot and indulge yourself in some great comfort food. Cooked and spiced to order! (yup, only thing on the overseas TV is the Tour, sorry!)

Ambiance: Faded and slightly seedy fast food joint with a drive thru window. Counter service. Some tacky Mexican memorabilia on the wall. Dining area is shabby and run down. Service: Friendly and super quick (especially the drive thru service.) Food: Mixed bag. Tacos are really good, and better than most you will find at sit-down restaurants. The chicken tacos are served in a homemade fried shell. The carne asada tacos are in a soft tortilla. The burritos and tortas are good as well. I do not recommend any of their combo meals, as the beans and rice are not very good (bland). Stick with ordering a la carte. Also, not a fan of their enchiladas or the sauce they use on top. Decent homemade salsa (red and green). Chips are fried fresh. This place has won a few awards now in back-to-back years for best taco in Colorado Springs (as per the Independent's readers annual poll). Although I agree their tacos are worth 4-stars, there are a few other places in town that beat them in this category in my opinion. The rest of the food is in the "ok" category.

I love this place. Everything on their menu is good. I especially like the breakfast burritos - stuffed full of eggs, cheese and more. I prefer the Bacon, Egg, Potato, and Cheese breakfast burrito with some of their Salsa Verde on top. Last night I had their Carne Asada burrito with a side of chips & guac. The burrito was stuffed with meat and homemade pico de gallo. I ate it with salsa verde. Chips are fried and very tasty, as was their guacamole. Prices are very reasonable. You can eat in or take it to go.

I love the breakfast burritos here! It's filling, fast, cheap, and comes with a side of either green sauce or red sauce. One of the rare few places that doesn't overdo it with the potatoes. I try to stop by here as much as I can when I pass through Springs. The venue isn't much to look at, but the food is definitely worth trying.

This restaurant doesn't have the atmosphere of a higher end Mexican restaurant. Its competition would be Taco Bell or Mexican restaurants at that level. The furniture and inside was a little run down. The food was more authentic than Taco Bell and was very popular with the group that I served it to when I visited last summer. Plus the prices were good. In May 2010 I plan on visiting Colorado Springs and will put this restaurant on my list. Make it a point to try.

YUMMY!!! It's hard to find a cheap Mexican food joint in the middle of the rockies but boy do you find it at Monica's! When you have to repeat yourself several times because of a language barrier, you know you have found the right spot! There green chile is amazing and carne asada burrito was delish! The steak used is actually decent cuts and no "chewy" pieces as found in most places. The size is also perfect without being completely overstuffed or not big enough. Not sure why someone would write no cheese, beans or rice as mine was fully packed unless the language barrier came into play :-) Overall this place definitely is a go to for any Mexican food cravings!!

We went here because it was close to where we were at the time and had decent reviews on Yelp. I had the ground beef tacos, gotta give it a blech! rating. Not spicy, not tasty. The taco shell was overcooked to the point of burned. The beans were watery with almost no taste. Hubby got the adobado burrito and said it was very salty. Can't recommend this place. There are many other Taco Shops, I'd say try one of them before going to Monica's.

  • Kristim M.

Our favorite here is the cabasa tacos. The rolled chicken tacos with guacamole are excellent as well.

  • Robin M.

Monica's is good stuff. I love their breakfast burritos (huge) and their taquitos with guacamole and cheese (nicely smothered). My only advice is to not order anything special, but ask for only what's exactly on the menu. Every time I go I try to get extra cheese or pico de gallo or something added or removed and it never happens. Price reflects the change (mostly the addition of ingredients) but the food is just the same as if you never asked.

  • A.p. S.

Monica's is like a giant taco truck on a foundation. They are fast, well priced, and delicious. I decided on the carnitas torta today and was not disappointed. They crisp the bun, smother on guacamole, add tomatoes and lettuce, and finally put on a lot of not-too-juicy carnitas. It was very good and a very large portion. The horchata is not the best I've ever had, but it was pretty good. I will definitely return to try other items on their menu. I'm glad to have found a go-to taco place :-)

  • Johan S.

Aboslutely fantastic breakfast burrito. I would suggest to get light potato and extra meat/cheese. Too often places focus on weight rather than balance of ingredients. Definitely top 5 burritos in Colorado.

    (4)
  • Jay K.

Great divey taco shop. Great place for lunch under $10 including a drink. The breakfast burrito is a great deal. Be ready for a colorful clientele and a somewhat seedy divey like atmosphere.

  • Brittney E.

Maybe its a good thing I live an hour away from this place... its like crack! I have been to Monica's on 30+ occasions over the years and have never been disappointed! The chicken tacos are my absolute favorite! Their red sauce, to die for! Don't even get me started on their breakfast burritos!! I will cut off my husbands hand before I let him attempt to get a bite from that!

Visiting Colorado Springs and wanted to try some local fast cuisine. Monica's Taco Shop was well reviewed, so I gave it a try. Just had a trio of beef tacos, but they were excellent. If I lived there, I'd make it a habit.

  • Jr F.

This hole in the wall/local yocal place is SOLID. It takes a lot for me to give out a five star review. With that in mind, I did like my experience. I got the breakfast burrito, with egg, bacon, potatoes and salsa Verde. I did like how they just give you a squeeze bottle full of your salsa of choice opposed to filling up little souffle portion cups. It was a good burrito. Un buen burrito pero, it was lacking something. I don't know what it was. Maybe I need to try their other entres. Good place. I'd go again.

  • Evan R.

WOW! I like to look at the Independent's 'Best Of' list to find places I wouldn't otherwise know about. Monica's is a true find on that list. Best Taco for 8+ years or something like that, and they couldn't be more correct. This is one of those places that I would have never given a 2nd glance driving by, much less walking into. But the food! O the food! The tacos are amazing! The way they fry their shells is unreal. Plus they have some authentic latin drinks and spices that set it apart from anywhere else i've been. Looking for a quick lunch with some outstanding food? You gotsta try Monica's!

  • Sarah G.

Fave place for this unique COS craving . Sometimes you need to ask for the potatoes to be "well done" with the breakfast burritos, but you can see who's making the food once you've gone enough . The chili relleno plate is my other favorite. I'm also a sucker for the 25 cent ring machines with the dining room music.

    (5)
  • Mark R.

I was hesitant when I first came to Monica's. But I was pleasantly surprised--the food is incredible, with just the right amount of spice and grease--and the horchata is amazing! It's not the fanciest place, sure, but it's darn good. If you want some of the best Mexican food in town, you can find it at Monica's.

  • Jaime T.

Moved here from AZ and have been in search of decent mexican food, this is the closest so far! salsa verde is money! Makes anything taste good, brings the heat and flavor that other places lack. So far best in the springs for me!

  • Steve H.

Authentic Mexican food. Not TexMex. Very hot when served. They offer their red or green sauce that is home made. The staff speaks Spanish also.

    (5)
  • Erron F.

Amazing fast clean and polite full service. The breakfast burritos are cheap filling and delicious. I don't know many restaurants you can get of if with a filling meal for $4.

Best asada flautas in colorado springs had great service the cashier was very friendly

  • Demitri R.

Im not sure why this place has such low reviews. Ordered 1 Carne Asada Burrito and 1 Fish and 1 Ground Beef Taco. The Carne asada burrito had nice chunks of steak, fresh pico de gallo. And the tortilla was fresh. The Fish Taco had a nice chunk of fish. The Sauce was great. The Ground beef taco shell was crunchy and light and airy. It was stuffed with ground beef. And Yummly Cheese. If your using the Drive Thru the Speaker, its kinda hard to hear him but thats the only complaint. The employees are friendly and its not long of a wait to get your food. Its authentic tasting in my book. The Menu has a variety of items including Torta's which is next on my book to try.

Stopped by while my car was getting a front-end alignment down the street as the joint was recommended by the mechanic as no frills cheap good Mexican. I found this to be so. The room is nothing to write home about, no wood or stone in sight. But I did not stop by for ambiance, but for cheap yummy Mexican, and that's what I got. I had two beef taco's and a fish taco. The beef filling was tasty, bountiful, and of the shredded style. Lots of pico and cabbage which were fresh and good. I had the corn tortillas which I found to be excellent, and thicker than I am used to as they held up really well - no difficulties with the tortilla falling apart 3 bights in. The fish taco was excellent, although not as large as the jumbo beef tacos I had. The fish was in the form of hot, bight sized pieces fried in a nice quality batter. Once again the pico and cabbage were plentiful. I spent $6 for my jumbo soft tacos, and felt like I got a good deal. Will be back next time I am in the area.

Shrimp burritos are to die for! Great food and great people behind the counter! I have been eating here at least twice a month for three years, and I have yet to be disappointed.

  • Dylan A.

Cheap, goodish quality, good quantity Mexican food. If you're used to good Tex-Mex this isn't quite it, but it's a decent substitute for this city. If you're white, try not to look too much like a G-man when you roll in the door. The first time I visited I sort of stormed in and had my usual "new place" grim expression and everyone froze in seeming panic for a moment. I was puzzled until I noticed all the ads for wiring money to Central America. As for the food, I really like the cheese enchiladas and beef crispy tacos, especially with a side of sour cream. I also ate waaaay too many breakfast burritos. They're not actually all that good, but they're very large and quite cheap.

    (4)
  • Beej F.

Sooooo disappointing. Looked and smelled great but the food was grim. I was really hoping for a nice taqueria experience and what I got did not measure up. I hope their breakfast food is better, but for dinner it was sub-par.

  • Michael H.

Man I love Monica's! I grew up on this stuff. That's probably why I have gas problems though... This place has some authentic mexican food. If you think Taco Bell is good Mexican, don't bother coming here. Taco's can be a bit crispy if not overcooked so hook up with some of them plates with a side of tortillas. Get some red and green sauces and welcome yourself to heaven. Mmmm, b$;@!

    (5)
  • Tony S.

Fresh and plenty of it. The folks that work there have all been there as long as I have been going to Monica's (6 years), all of them very nice.

  • Casey M.

First time eating there tonight. Had the three taquitos with guac and my wife had the Carne Asada taco. Both were good but the Carne Asada was awesome. Will definitely be back to try more items on the menu.

    (4)
  • Tom W.

I,M HOOKED ON the Carne Asada Tacos. For less then $3 You can have one of these Most Tasty Treats which are loaded with steak, guac, and pico de gallo in a soft corn tortilla.I tried some of the other menu offerings and wasn't as thrilled. The red and green sauce offered are great! Quick and friendly staff make for a great visit everytime.

    (4)
  • Groceries B.

Just great!!! I could go and eat the rice and beans everyday! Fast, and friendly service along with fresh, hot and over stuffed plates!!! Taco Bell is across the street and I haven't been since I started going here. Try this place, if you are in the Springs area.

  • Jim H.

I love Monica's! We have been getting our late-night fix for taqueria food here for years. They have a couple items that aren't stellar: refried beans and chile relleno specifically. But almost everything else is fantastic, authentic, Mexican fast food. They are also willing to make just about anything you ask for even if it's not on the menu. Their tacos (in all forms) are not be missed. The fresh fried corn taco shells remind me of Mexico and their shredded beef tacos make my mouth water just thinking about them. My wife lives for the shredded chicken chimichanga and my son never fails to order their enchiladas (cheese, and chicken versions). I will say that I am always happier when I just order the individual items I want rather than ordering one of their combo plates (since I don't care for their beans; but the rice is very, very tasty). I also recommend ordering a Pina or Horchata drink. Very refreshing!

  • Kate P.

This is exactly how I like my Mexican food! Monica's is priced well, always delicious and leaves me satisfied. I've brought a number of friends here and they all loved it! The staff is friendly and polite. The main seating area could use a little love and is at times a little unkempt, but I overlook it for the awesome food. The fish tacos are awesome!

  • Daniel C.

We looked up diners and drive ins and it suggested Monica's taco shop. We yelped it. It was clean the and wait staff friendly. We ordered carne asada burritos. It's more traditional Mexican food nothing like Taco Bell. Beef was tender and the fat was trimmed off. Green sauce was spicy. We got it to go and the first words out of my 15 year old was "This is really good." I highly recommend this place!

  • Kirk K.

Local Mexican joint, very basic menu with prices you can't beat. Only ordered food for breakfast and the food is always eaten. Plenty of breakfast burritos to please everyone

I love this place. It's authentic, cheap and delicious. Atmosphere is what you get for a taco shop but the food is great!

    (5)
  • Melissa T.

One of my only college memories is Monica's tacos. I have a sick obsession with their chile relleno burrito. Not that I live in Denver, I'll order a dozen or so if I'm ever in town...

  • Shawn C.

I know some people have a thing for 'cheap' taco places and holes in the wall, but for me, this one just failed to connect. This is a medium sized place that you order first then sit down and then get your food when it's ready. There's a self service fountain drink machine and most of the normal mexican food options and combos on the menu. However, most of the food was quite bland .. everything from the beans to cheese and chips that I got on the side. While the amount of food was good, I'd rather have a partly full belly of good food rather than a very full belly of mediocre food. I've since eating there had to edit my review from 3 stars down to 1. This is because most of my time since eating there has been spent in the bathroom, miserable, and questioning my life and eating choices. I will now avoid that place like the apparent plague that it is and recommend you do the same.

    (1)
  • Lauren W.

Great dive! First time; went in drive thru. Employees are so friendly and helpful with suggestions. We got the carne asana plate (which was enough to feed two people/ 2 burritos). Very yummy! I also got another burrito and guacamole and chips. We could not eat it all. Filling!!! Prices are great. I would definitely recommend it!

    (4)
  • Kai M.

SO damn delicious. I was looking for a shop similar in quality to Burrito Betty's in Pueblo, and Monica's was it. Delicious, delicious, huge burritos with all the fixins, and they are willing to alter things for you too. I get the California burrito with shredded chicken in red sauce instead of beef, and add avocado. Plus horchata, and that is my perfect meal. Chile verde burrito has so much pork in it, it is almost funny. Breakfast burritos all day. Love this place.

    (5)
  • Terry W.

This place and Taco Express is the two top notch drive thru burrito places in town. If you are in a hurry and want some food that is cooked today then this is the place to come. Last I was told is they get most of their produce and meat locally. Great place to drive thru at.

    (4)
  • Isabelle D.

It's.. Okay. I was expecting some real Mexican food. I got a meal that was the easy way out. They didn't have tapatio or cholula. The employees were nice, but I wouldn't come again.

    (2)
  • Wendy W.

Cheap and fast. Typically Luke warm. Everything is decent if you're looking for a quick meal but definitely not top notch Mexican food. Unfortunately the cashier is too busy to be friendly and the four tables are always at least a little dirty. Breakfast burritos are good, big and worth the price.

    (3)
  • D F.

This place is filfthy. The food is cold. The employees are VERY rude. The bathrooms are not fir for a dog so you can imagine what the kitchen looks like. I would NEVER eat here or recommend it to anyone. Don't know how they stay in business.

  • Chris S.

After reading the mostly rave reviews, I had to try Monica's as it is just a couple blocks from the hospital where my mom is currently admitted. Let me just say that I was not overly impressed. A cheese quesadilla, two carne asada tacos, chips and guacamole, and an horchata came to almost $15, not exactly cheap. The quesadilla was nothing special, the tacos came on greasy tortillas that tasted like they were fried in dirty (fishy) oil, and the guacamole, and I use that term loosely, looked like the stuff from a tub that you get on nachos at Little League baseball games and was smothered all over the chips (fried in the same fishy grease) and topped with a little cheese. There was no need to deep fry a soft shell corn tortilla for a carne asada taco as they should have been lightly toasted on the grill prior to serving. The meat, cheese, and pico di gallo were actually pretty good and plentiful, but I could barely stomach the greasy, fishy flavor of the fried tortillas. Non me gusto ... YUK! I would like to think that it was just a bad night, but I honestly cannot say that I will return to find out. CombatCritic Gives Monica's Taco Shop (Fillmore) 4 Bombs Out of 10 ... I may have ordered the wrong thing, didn't seem all that good. This is an old Burger King, so the dining room seems kind of cold. I've heard great things about the place, so I might ask for a little more direction at the counter when I order and see if I can find what all the hubbub is about.

After being in Korea for 2 years and only having access to KorMex fusion or TexMex, Monica's was a taste of heaven. The carne asada taco was my favorite out of the 3 I ordered (carnitas, carne, and fish), and the chicken enchiladas were absolutely delicious. The chicken was well seasoned and my husband wanted to drink the sauce. The salsa verde was a good and spicy addition to my tacos. The horchata was a tad sweet for me, but still refreshing, and the guacamole was super salty to me (tasted a bit like it came from a bucket). The dining area was a bit dirty, but not the worst I've seen. I'm really looking forward to going back and trying more!

  • Julia A.

I usually have a good experience here so I won't let thus one experience ruin it. I would not suggest sitting in the restaurant to eat. It's really easy to get things to go and eat them at home. The restaurant is really dirty. I didn't see any one coming over to wipe the tables. I had the egg, cheese, and potato burrito. My mom had the same thing and both of us found a piece of bacon/ham in our burritos. This really sucks because were both vegetarians. But this is the first time out of maybe 5 burritos I've had at Monica's. The burrito is really filling. I only ate half of mine and I was satisfied. I also ordered the horchata. This too was a big portion. It was really good, not watered down.

    (4)
  • Chloe H.

The rest of my family's orders were correct and tasted pretty great, but my vegetarian sister's order was wrong multiple times. They gave us beef when she ordered bean. We mentioned it and they gave us a new "bean" one. Yet again, it was beef and she accidentally ate some of it before realizing. They wouldn't give us a refund or correct it again. Very dissatisfied with their service.

  • Megan W.

Most people I mention Monica's to have never heard of it. While I love being able to seem really avant garde, I also really think this płace deserves to be known. The first time I went I got rolled tacos. They caused me to flashback to when my mom would (on a lazy day) microwave us frozen taquitos for dinner. Not spectacular. The next time I visited, I decided to try a breakfast burrito. I had grown up HATING breakfast burritos, but I had heard Monica's did them right. And, oh man, they sure do. Ever since my 2nd visit, I have ordered a bacon and potato breakfast burrito. The lard-y tortilla is the best I've had and the amount of cheese is perfection. Is recommend slathering it with their red and green sauces and ordering a large horchata to sip on to help with the spicyness. This combo is perfect absolutely anytime of day. I've only ever gone through the drive-thru, but I'm giving it 4-stars because, from what I've seen through the window, the interior decor is kind of dreadful. If rather take my delicious meal and eat it in my cozy home,

  • Debbie B.

We got breakfast burritos here this morning and they were good. Their chips were also good but a bit too greasy. Their green hot sauce was delish and red as well. And their coke was good, not flat.

  • Scott B.

Excellent Breakfast Burritos. Chorizo, Egg, and add cheese is filling. Tortillas are always fresh. Worth the drive if you aren't near one.

    (4)
  • Jon W.

oh, it's dirty. Oh, it's greasy. Oh, it's amazing! Go there, get a chorizo egg breakfast burrito, sweat like crazy, and call and tell your mom you love her. You may not survive the experience; but it's a risk worth taking. Love this place.

  • Kali H.

Love Monica's. Authentic, bursting with flavor cheap Mexican food! Must try their horchata. Definitely a more run down location, but the food more than makes up for it, my only disappointment would be their steak, which has a flavor I'm not used to and can be a little rubbery, but overall huge portions, delicious, fast and friendly service and food is lovely,

    (4)
  • Don A.

I ate there a couple of hours ago and I am sick as a dog...bad food, filthy dirty conditions. Don't know why I risked it but I regret it very much...my stomach has never hurt so bad.

Great breakfast burritos! We had bacon, egg, and cheese, and my wife had potato, egg, and cheese burritos. You definitely get your moneys worth as they are really big burritos.

Rolled tacos with guacamole are the best in town! The nachos supreme is fantastic! Delicious fresh flavors, from the pico to the carne asada. Great place for a quick and inexpensive Mexican meal

Amazing chili relleno and breakfast burritos. Fresh ingredients and fast, convenient drive through. Only fast Mexican place in town worth visiting.

  • Mark B.

Not great tacos. Had carnitas and carne asada. The carnitas were decent at best, the carne asada was substandard.

    (2)
  • Whit R.

Yum! Monica's is very delicious. They let you put it all together just the way you like it - tacos, burritos, quesidillas - and you get a nice variety of fillings - beef, carnitas, chicken, beans. They have nice big cups for your drink and coca-cola (a rarity in the Springs I'm finding). The price is right, with plenty of room to add more or less (you can get something tasty for under $3). The only real negative about this location is the parking lot. If you're heading east on Fillmore, it's a little screwy to get in there. Otherwise, all's well. I've been here 3 times already since moving to CO in January and I expect I'll be back again.

Taco Express is way better. Just sayin'.

Carne Asada burrito and an unsweetened ice tea! Such a tasty combo after mountain biking in Palmer Park, so I come here a lot. The burrito has a ton of beef, genrous amount of guac, and really good pico. Cheap too! I always order the same thing, but my friends all like their orders too.

  • Jessica L.

Fast!! Clean!! Delicious!! We walked in directly ordered and were served within 2 minutes!! We ordered a shredded beef burrito, steak egg and cheese burrito, and two soft-shell beef tacos, and two drinks, our total was only $17.98. Food was delicious, staff was friendly. Definitely coming back!!!!

Very tasty, reasonably priced fast-food Mexican. One of the one-star reviews mentions that the burritos only contain meat, pico, and guacamole -- this is entirely true. And said burritos containing only meat, pico, and guacamole are delicious. So far I've had the carne asada burrito and the carnitas burrito, and have had a hard time trying anything else! Both were large, filling, and only about $5. The seating area seems to have seen better days, but the food is hard to beat.

Very friendly and courteous employees. The churros were good. We went back a few times for more. The horchata was pretty good too. Kelly said the Breakfast Burrito was very good and the Bean Burrito was good too.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
